Call us at 310-831-2629 during office hours because RSVP's are a must. Our menu hasn't changed much since the event started in 1964. Every morsel of it is made fresh. It's a place where our members and guests have attended so regularly they have tables they claim as their own. Tradition runs deep here. The luncheon began as a chance for a dozen local businessmen to meet, forge deals and share a meal. As the lunch's reputation for huge, family style meals and influential guests grew over the years, our numbers have swelled one luncheon netted more than 400 and has evolved into a major networking opportunity for San Pedro's business, social and political communities. 10:30 am, Councilwoman Hahn to be Keynote Speaker at San Pedro’s Community 4th of July Observance. Ringing of the historic Korean Bell to be a Highlight. San Pedro’s annual community Independence Day Celebration will be held Friday, July 4th, at its traditional location at the scenic Angels Gate Park, home of the Korean Friendship Bell. The Korean Bell, one of San Pedro’s most enduring landmarks, plays a key role in the ceremonial observance. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 AM, with presentations by local and Korean community leaders. Representing the community bridge between our two cultures, will be the Honorable Consul General, Kim, Jae-Soo, from the Los Angeles Consulate of the Republic of Korea. Following the presentations, the South Bay Young Marines will perform a flag folding ceremony, explaining the significance of each fold. To conclude the ceremonial portion of the day, John Olguin - Director Emeritus of the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium and San Pedro’s “Citizen of the Millennium” will lead the audience in reciting the names of the 13 original American states. As he reads the names seven honored representatives of the San Pedro and Korean Communities will strike a battering ram into the massive bell, ringing once for each state. The Korean Bell is rung officially on only four other occasions each year – Korean Independence Day (August 15th) Constitution Day (September 17th, United Nations Day (October 24th) and New Year’s Eve.Expected to join in the observance, will be representatives from the Space and Missile Systems Center, Air Force Space Command on the Los Angeles Air Force Base; the Honorable Kim, Jae-Woo – Consul General, Consulate of the Republic of Korea; President Dr. Cha, Jong Whan and representatives of the Advisory Council on Democratic and Peaceful Unification of Korea – L.A. Chapter; the Honorary Mayor of San Pedro - Joe Donato; an antique vehicle display by the Ft. MacArthur Military Museum; the Reverend Oliver Bouie - Warren Chapel; vocalists Nicole La Blanc and Temple Beth El Cantor Ilan Davison; John Ek - San Pedro Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman and Camilla Townsend, President and CEO of the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce. The Master of Ceremonies will be Steven B. Cho – CW2R California State Military Reserve.
