COPE Preparedness (Formerly known as COPSS), as a service to the community, has adopted a POD and is recruiting volunteers to assist in the largest vaccination campaign in our nation's history. 8:00pm, Alvas Showroom presents Ben Owens. At the age of twenty, So-Cal native Ben Owens has obviously spent a great deal of time honing his craft. Ben has performed his unique brand of fingerstyle guitar all over the country, including venues such as UCSD’s Mandeville Auditorium, the main stage of the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society (CAAS) Convention (where Ben is an annual performer), Humphrey’s By the Bay, and Anthology (San Diego’s premier jazz venue.) His debut album, Never Alone, garnered stunning reviews from the guitar community and was featured in both European and American Guitar magazines. English guitar virtuoso Richard Smith called Ben “one of the very best [fingerstyle guitarists] of the next generation.” Additionally, Ben has been privileged to share the stage with greats such as (friend and mentor) Tommy Emmanuel, Pete Huttlinger, Richard Smith, Fred Benedetti, and Joe Robinson. Although Ben simply calls himself a “fingerstyle guitarist,” one can certainly expect a diverse and tasteful program.
